I cannot believe that, already, I have completed my first half a year as an elementary art teacher. It really is a dream come true and a testament that no matter what your goals are in life, never give up and always believe that everything will come together just fine. I feel truly fortunate to have been granted this amazing opportunity. Everyday, I wake up excited to see what new adventures and discoveries we encounter in the art room and I look forward to share it all with you!
The last few weeks have been a blur but let's take a moment and quickly review what has occurred:
First of all, art from our international experience finally concluded! Delta Center is an extremely diverse schools with students from all over the world. If you want to find a way to light that spark within your student, tell them they are learning art from a country they are from or have been too :) Here is where we went:
1st: Early Native American Art
2nd: Russia
3rd: Panama
4th: Mexico
5th: India
6th: Asia (Japan & China)

Just as art from our international studies concluded, it was time to get in the spirit of winter. Many groups got an early start such as 1st grade and their Stained Glass Candles and Reindeer with Concentric Circles. However, it didn't stop there. Just in time for our winter celebrations, art in the Delta Center hallways started to switch up yet again! Check out these wonderful holiday spirit infused completed projects!
Some may choose to start projects, others may choose to finish projects. Some may choose to do a mixture of both. Still another option exists. One that helps to provide a focus for all the excitement that builds around any upcoming breaks or holidays: Art Centers!
I love art centers! Not only is it a way to use up materials but it also serves as a fantastic creative outlet for students. It allows students a chance to choose their own activity based on personal interests; it allows for completly unrestricted creative freedom; it allows for an art teachers peace of mind during the holidays!

So that it! Thank you all for making the first half of my 1st year such a success. Thank you for following along both on here and with the twitter page (@teachingart_BD). As communication is important, and with an effort to reach as many families as possible, I've also added: "Mrs. BellDean's DC Art Room" group on Facebook to help keep everyone in the art room loop!
Don't forget to check back in "next" year! Cheers!
