Our fundraiser has been a great success and we are adding an additional opportunity for ordering! If you woke up today and thought: "Oh, man! I forgot to order!" or "Aunt Nettie finally got back to me and wanted to order, too!" or perhaps even "You know, on second thought I really did want to order another magnet!", then I have GREAT news!
For artwork that is already in our online Gallery, ordering is still the same using the website, our school code, and your student's code to located and place orders. Any artwork that was not previously uploaded into the online Gallery will need to complete the manual order form. Both the order form and the artwork will need to be returned to me by Monday, November 26th, so that they can be mailed to Original Works by November 29th. Please note that delivery dates for late/additional orders are not guaranteed for specific arrival dates, but I will keep you updated as often as possible of their potential delivery.

Let me know if you have any questions and as always thank you for your continued support in our students and our program!

ORIGINAL WORKS IS BACK!!!
The Delta Center art room is teaming up with Original Works once again and this time we're trying something new!
Original Works is an art-based fundraiser that turns student masterpieces into professional quality keepsakes such as kitchen towels, ornaments, travel mugs, wall stickers and more!
What's new this year? We are participating in the Online Gallery program! Easier to share and easy to order, this version will also enable you to PREVIEW your student's work on selected picks! Just assess our online gallery using our school code provided in your student's packet last week. Locate your child's artwork by using their title image and use their student code to complete orders.

The November 15th deadline is soon approaching so don't miss out! If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me, I'm here to help!!!!

A Mad Hatter's Warning:

The creativity in the art room will soon be gaining speed, which means messes are EXTREMELY likely to happen. Although most of our medias are washable, it is usually better to be safe than sorry. Art shirts can be a great stress reliever knowing that what is underneath can stay clean. Be sure to add one to your student's gear soon!
A "Dots" About to Happen:

The halls have been empty for far too long! All grade levels have been hard at work creating mini masterpieces that will be part of 3 murals inspired by Peter Reynolds book, "The Dot", and International Dot Day on September 15th. Woot woot, let's make our mark!
Shhh!!! Secret Revealed:

Well, all will not be revealed quite yet, but SOON! Until then, can you guess what Groot's hiding before the week is over?

Accommodating ALL Learners

For some, the ability to be on our feet and sway a little can make all the difference in processing information and producing our best work. For others, standing leads to distractions and sitting is where they soar best. And then there are those who work best in the most nontraditional settings where tables and chairs are varied or non-existent.
This year in the DC art room, we aim to accommodate and encourage the learning styles of all students with our new flexible seating arrangement! We have tables geared for those who prefer a more traditional setting but still enjoy having options with our "SIT or STAND" areas. Our "STANDing" area provide two different heights for those that think best on their feet. Even the floor has been utilized in our "KNEELing" and "FLOOR" options for those who work best in a more relaxed setting.
Over the first few weeks, students have really enjoyed the ability to chose and are really taking ownership of their learning as they discover under which options they S.O.A.R. best. As an added bonus, we have all enjoyed how the room appears not only more open in terms of space, but also more inviting (if that's even possible ;) )

"We must use time creatively."

- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Picture
Check out this amazing sculpture inspired by his work! Known as the "Landmark for Peace" memorial, this amazing artwork can be found in a park in Indianapolis, Indiana. Artist, Greg Perry and Daniel Edwards, worked with laser cut steel & sculpted bronze to create this towering sculpture featuring two historical and inspiring leaders: John F. Kennedy & Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Why do you think the artist included these individuals? Is there are reason they reach out toward one another?

SURPRISE!
Over the past 2 months the Delta Center 6th grade Art Avengers have been working every day in the art room on a special project it's finally finished!
This project serves as Delta Center's entry into the MadeByMilk 2017 competition with the chance to win up to $5,000!
This year's theme was sports and our girls chose football to highlight one of the biggest debates in history both on the field and in the lunch room: Which is better, chocolate milk or regular milk?
Over 370 milk cartons were used to create this fierce display if ingenuity, sustainability, and equality (yes...those are ladies on the field!).

Check out: http://madebymilkcontest.com/see-entries/entries-details/… to see our entry along and don't forget to vote!

Yay! It's International Week and this year students are again traveling the world through the study of art. This year we visited Asia, Mexico, India, and Africa! We even studied a little local culture/ styles with first and second grade by checking out art inspired by Native Americans and Native American tales. Through our travels, we've learned how cultures shared stories; the symbolic meaning and importance of images; we connected with each other over tales of loss and origins of heritage; overall, we've had a BLAST! Check out our adventures below and keep your eyes open for some amazing final results!
Don't forget to check out our Delta Center International Night this Friday, December 1st! Learn about amazing cultures from around the world and get a chance to view our "worldly" mural (Sneak Peak Below)!
